member of the Association of Garden Trusts and is registered as
an environmental body by the regulator of the Landfill Tax
Credit Scheme, Entrust.
Objects of the Kent
Gardens Trust
The
objects of Kent Gardens Trust are:
-
to
help develop the educational aspects of gardens,
particularly for the younger generation;
-
to
help conserve Kent's outstanding gardens;
-
and
to create new parks and gardens in the county.
Educational
work and other activities
The
Trust works with schools - helping children to discover the fun
of growing plants and advising older pupils on a career in
horticulture. We have helped with projects on historical aspects
of gardens at The Historic Dockyard in Chatham and the
Infirmarer's Garden at the Archbishop's Palace in Maidstone,
which the Trust helps to maintain.
The
Trust has made several grants to assist historic garden
restoration, as well as to deserving students. Bursaries have
been given to students at Hadlow College.
